That could change closer to the release date which can still be more than a year away. What seems to be a sure thing is the engine, a twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V-8. Read More: AutosVoice.com

A Simple Guide to Buying Tyres

Your car’s tyres are a vital safety feature – they’re the vehicle’s only point of contact with the road, and ABS and stability control can’t work correctly if the tyres don’t grip the road well. Despite their importance, tyres are one of a car’s least understood parts; everyone has different needs, and no particular type of tyre works in every situation. In this list, you’ll get some do’s and don’ts on choosing new tyres.

Don’t Economize too Much

Poorly designed, low-quality, cheap tyres can give you less control in emergency stops – and those stops can take longer to achieve. All tyres have traction ratings stamped on the sidewall; choose tyres with an AA or an A rating.

Don’t Overspend

In most cases, name brands cost more – and this applies equally to tyres. Popular brands tend to provide consistently high quality, but less popular names often produce great products at a substantial savings. A trustworthy local tyre dealer or online expert can help you find the best tyres for your budget and your needs. Read More: AutosVoice.com

Vehicle Financing Options Explained

Choosing the right car is a big decision, but often choosing the right finance is just as tricky. However, it’s really important to understand the consequences of your choices before committing to anything, so to help you,
Here’s a quick guide to the various vehicle payment options you may want to consider.

Cash

Cash is almost always the most cost-effective means to purchase an item. With no interest rates attached, it’s a straightforward transaction with immediate ownership so a highly beneficial choice. The downside, of course, is that we don’t all have the funds immediately available to us to purchase outright. It’s in these circumstances that you may want to consider the following options as an alternative.

Personal Loans

Opting for a personal loan means you can have quick access to the funds you require and ownership of the vehicle is immediately transferred to you. However, the repayment term is generally short which means your monthly repayments could be higher, compared to if you spread the cost over a longer term. A secured loan, like those available from Nemo Personal Finance, can be an alternative to a personal loan, allowing you to spread the loan amount over a longer term; naturally reducing your monthly repayments compared to a personal loan but you are likely to pay back more overall if the term of the secured loan is longer. Remember, a Nemo loan is secured on your home so you must ensure you can afford the repayments. Read More :AutosVoice.com

Tips To Make Your Car as Safe as Possible

Car Safety

When it comes to car safety, there is always more than can be done. Cars are produced with safety in mind, but this can deteriorate over time. Aside from buying a new car,
Here are a few things you can do to increase the protection offered by your own vehicle.

Improve Your Brakes

When it comes to emergency stops and other surprise maneuvers, a fast braking speed is essential. The shorter your car can come to a stop, the higher your chance of avoiding collisions. For this, you can look at two key areas – the brake discs themselves and the car tyre.
Brake mechanisms in the front wheels – where most of the breaking occurs – include brake discs, pads and rotors. Often, you might find only one item needs replacing, but it’s a wise idea to replace all of the parts at once to ensure high quality brake pads are always in place. This is also true if you don’t use the car frequently, as this could actually allow corrosion to build up. Read More : AutosVoice.com

Understanding Automotive Fuses

During the course of ownership of a car, there’s a strong chance that you may blow an electrical fuse. When this happens, it isn’t a crisis, it just means that an electric component in your car is drawing too much power and for safety, a fuse stops the flow of current. Engineers design cars to do this.

But how do you know if a fuse has blown? Most likely something will stop working. For example, it could be the backup lights, the turn signals, the radio, or even a headlight. Whatever the case, if a fuse blows, the device in question won’t work. The solution, of course, is to replace the fuse. “But I don’t know how to check fuses,” you might say. Relax, it’s easy and we will explain how.
In general, most vehicles on the road have two types of fuses. Older cars have glass, cylinder-shaped fuses with stainless steel caps on the ends. These type of fuses were very common a few decades ago and are rare now in cars. (You will still see them in a lot of other types of electronic equipment, though.) Today’s cars have a different style of fuse that uses a colored plastic housing with the fusible link encased in the housing. Read More :AutosVoice.com

How Motor Oil Recycling Works

Have you ever wondered what happens to your used motor oil when it goes to be recycled? Used motor oil is such an awful mess, can it ever be really cleaned? The answer is yes. It can be cleaned up and it can be reused. Here’s how it’s done.

Industrial and automotive used oils are recycled at what are called “re-refineries”. Re-refineries receive the used oil in bulk, usually via large tanker trucks. After it is received, the oil is tested to determine suitability for re-refining. Once a shipment of used oil is deemed suitable, it is unloaded into tanks at the re-refinery.
The first step is removing any water. This dehydrating process also removes light fuels from the oil and these light fuels are actually used to power the refinery.
Next step is to remove any ethylene glycol for re-use in recycled antifreeze. Then vacuum distillation is used to remove the “fraction” suitable for reuse as lubricating oil. This is referred to as the “Lube Cut”. This leaves other heavier oils and other combustion by-products for use in road paving. The lube cut next undergoes hydro treating to remove residual polymers and other chemical compounds, and to saturate carbon chains with hydrogen for greater stability. Read More :AutosVoice.com

Why are there Plumes of Burning Gas in that Open Field?

Ever drive by a large open industrial area and see enormous plumes of fire being emitted from pipes emanating from the ground?   In the mining industry, this is called flaring and it’s a very common where oil drilling and coal mining is going on. Ever wonder why this energy is being wasted like that?

Flaring is used for many reasons, and not just by drillers, but by almost any industry that may have extra gas or fuel to get rid of. That includes landfills, sewage treatment plants, chemical plants, and refineries. The issue is that excess flammable gas needs to be released to prevent explosions and flaring it is a quick and easy way to get rid of it.
Drillers use a flare when they don’t have a pipeline ready to pump out oil or gas, such as during exploration. Drillers often need to test an area’s resources before investing in pipelines so the practice of flaring is common during that phase. The problem is that the stuff that doesn’t burn when flaring, like methane and other volatile organic compounds, aren’t good for the local environment (and certainly not for people) and can increase global warming and ozone problems. The Willy’s Jeepster – the Post-War Jeep

Willy’s Corporation was one of three companies involved in Jeep production during World War II. From 1941 until 1945, Willys built some 360,000 vehicles for the war effort. Not only did they profit financially during this time, they also accumulated further production knowledge during a time when most manufacturers were shut down.
After the war, Willys was eager to jump into the production of civilian vehicles to tap into near five years of pentup demand. The result was the new Willys Jeepster VJ-2 introduced to the public in July 1948. The base price of $1,765 for the VJ-2 included many features that were an extra cost on competitor’s cars, such as whitewall tires, hubcaps with bright trim rings, bumper guards, dual horns, cigar lighter, wind wings, top boot and a continental spare tire with cover. It was a good looking car too. Read More: AutosVoice.com
