Three Things to Think About When You’re Buying a Bike

For most first time motorbike owners, buying your bike is the culmination of a lifelong dream. You’ve probably spent hours poring over specialist magazines, picking out makes and models whilst imagining the day that you could own one yourself.
Although this makes your first bike even more magical, it also means that practicality can go out of the window. When you see your dream bike parked up and shining in the sunlight, all thoughts of costs and legalities can be forgotten in an instant. There is only you, your bike, and the thought of the wind buffeting your body as you race along.
But there are some very important things that you need to consider before taking the plunge. If you’ve found the bike of your dreams, here is a list of practicalities to run through before you sign on the dotted line… Read More: AutosVoice.com

The Ins & Outs of Ensuring Your Car Is Safe This Summer

Tyres

Your car tyres are one of the most important parts of your car, so check the tread depths. Having part worn tyres means that the only contact place between you and the road is past its best – a dangerous situation given the state of the roads.
The law states that the minimum legal tyre tread depth for cars in the UK and Europe is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre. The tread must meet this minimum requirement across its complete circumference.
The 20p test is a simple, quick and easy way of checking the tyre tread of your car’s wheels. Just take a 20p coin and insert it into the tread grooves on the tyre. If you can’t see the outer band on the coin, your tyres are above the legal limit.
Be aware that if you are involved in an accident and your car has illegal or bald tyres, there may be some seriously bad consequences. Any insurance claim as a result of the accident could be invalidated. You could be at risk of a fine of up to £2,500 and three points on your licence. That is, per tyre! Read More:AutosVoice.com

How Does Car Leasing Work?

Getting behind the wheel of a new car these days is easier than it ever has been before thanks to numerous ways of financing it. One such option is leasing, but it’s something that many people are still a little confused by or misinformed by. Let’s take a look at what it means here and why it might be suitable for you.
Firstly, leasing is not the same as renting. This is the main point that people don’t realise. While you might rent a car with a daily fee that you can cancel just about any time, leasing is a fixed contract and a more significant financial commitment. Essentially, you’re paying a price to use the car for the lease period, which is often a couple of years or more, and then splitting this down into monthly payments. It’s quite similar to paying out on a loan for the car, except that you’re not actually paying to own it. Read More: AutosVocie.com

The future of privacy in the world of the connected car

Over the past couple years, we’ve gradually seen the internet of everything give way to the internet of things, with more and more of the technologies we deal with in day to day life getting connected and autonomously taking care of tasks we used to have to do for ourselves. It’s supposed to be liberating, but does it also have a dark side? Just what – and who – are we letting into our lives?

Is your car watching you?

On January 8, 2014, Ford’s Jim Farley said something at a conference that he would go on to regret for a long time. His company knew when people broke the law, he joked, because it could tell exactly where they were from the GPS in their cars. Unfortunately for him, his audience immediately identified that while he may not personally be spying on them, he was talking about something that was entirely possible. People everywhere began to think of their connected cars in a different way. GPS, built-in phones, insurance company telemetrics – all these gadgets collect information about us and all of them have the potential to share this data with others. Read More: AutosVocie.com
