Read This First Before You Customise Your Car!

When you buy a new car, you have the option to choose from one of several trims. In the automotive world, a “trim” is a level of specification. For example, one might come with air conditioning while another offers climate control.
Some car enthusiasts aren’t satisfied with the features their car has as standard. Of course, one can buy optional extras through the dealership. But, there will be some customisations that aren’t available as an option.
In those cases, car fans will buy the things they want as aftermarket add-ons. In essence, these are parts bought outside of the dealer network. They are usually sold by car accessory and tuning companies.
If you’re thinking of getting a new car, you might also be considering customising it too. But, before you do that, it’s important to bear in mind the following facts: Read More: AutosVoice.com

Are Your Shocks on Their Way Out?

They don’t actually absorb shocks

First, what we call shock absorbers are really “dampeners”, they don’t really absorb “shocks” at all. The components of a vehicle’s suspension that do absorb bumps and shocks are the vehicle’s springs. What shock absorbers do is different; they prevent the springs from bouncing around after a hard bump. And they can wear out and fail to dampen a car’s springs when driving, thereby creating the symptoms we discussed.

How you can test them

If you suspect that the shocks in your car might need replacing, here’s one way to test them. Place your hand firmly on each corner of a vehicle, give it a strong push downward, then let go and watch. If your car continues to bounce a little after you let it go, your shocks probably need replacing. What should happen is that the corner of the vehicle “dampens out” quickly and comes to a halt. Note that this test may require quite a bit of strength and with many high-riding SUVs and pickups it isn’t easy to get the leverage you need to perform the test. Instead, you should have a qualified mechanic check your shock absorbers for you. Read More: AutosVoice.com

Chill Out This Summer: Here's How To Fix Common A/C Problems

Now that the weather is looking more favorable these days, it’s time to think about how we can cool down when we’re driving. One way is to open our windows and let the air around us circulate inside our vehicles as we cruise down the highway.
Of course, many people don’t want to go with that option. Most of today’s modern cars come with air conditioning. Not only do you get icy cold air when you need it, you don’t have to worry about annoying irritants coming through the air vents. That’s great news if you suffer from asthma, for example! Why Gas Prices are Always Changing

As you undoubtedly know, gas prices are notoriously fickle. They can be counted on to spike unexpectedly, or conversely tumble precipitously, multiple times during any given year. And over time some real dramatic changes can occur. For example, just a little over 5 years ago, the national average for gas was a little over $4 per gallon. Today prices are close to half of that. Ever wonder why the price of gas changes so much? There are a variety of factors at play – some seasonal, some state-specific, some globally significant, and some the result of unpredictable weather-related effects. Read More: AutosVoice.com

Do You Need Detergent in Your Gasoline?

They all have the Same Base Components

The gasoline from different gas companies and filling stations comes from a common source: the “base gas” from a petroleum refinery. This gas meets a minimum set of standards and all stations start with that foundation. From there the refinery adds various compounds as required by the Environmental Protection Agency in order to reduce emissions. After that, the different gas companies — both off-brand and major brands — put their own additive packages in the gas to further boost cleaning properties. That’s the basic difference between brands: cleaning properties (and some tout “performance enhancement” too.)

Then the marketing people get to flex their muscles

The major oil companies spend millions of dollars convincing buyers that their premium price formulations are better by creating radio, TV and internet ads touting their superiority. These ads with smiling cartoon cars, lab-coated scientists and carbonized engine valves are designed to drive home the point. Here’s an example: “With Shell’s nitrogen-enriched gas, you won’t get a buildup of nasty gunk in your engine”, the company advertising promises, and then they show you a picture of blacked engine “gunk”. Is all this just a marketing gimmick? Well, yes and no. The Federal Trade Commission has rules about what you can say. There has to be some factual basis behind the claims but, that being said, there’s going to be some hyperbole involved too. Let’s look a little deeper. Read More: AutosVoice.com

Should You Fill Your Tires with Inert Gas?

Not all car tires are filled with regular air, some are filled with nitrogen. If you ever walk by a car and notice that the valve stems have green caps, you’ve probably seen a car with nitrogen in its tires. If you are like us, though, you are probably wondering why this is even being done. Well, we did some research and here’s the story:
Tires-with-Inert-Gas
Nitrogen is called an “inert gas” by scientists because it has doesn’t react (chemically change) much with other substances. That’s the “inert” part. Contrast this with oxygen, which is a highly reactive gas and tends to react (change) with just about every substance out there. Best example: oxygen turns steel into rust -a detrimental chemical reaction involving automobiles if there ever was one. Read More: AutosVoice.com

Saving Money on Gas

Don’t buy higher octane gas than you need – higher octane gas exists for one reason, to allow better combustion in high compression engines. Go with the octane level that your manufacturer recommends. If you don’t know what that is, look in your owner’s manual or call your local dealer.
Shop around – Search out the best deal in your neighborhood, or within a few minute detour from your driving path into work every day. There are several cell phone apps that can help you, GasBuddy is one of the major ones.
Do you need to pay for “better gas” – in a word, no. The gas companies put additives in their more expensive grades to “improve your performance” and “keep your engine clean”. While there is a smidge of truth to this advertising, studies show that these effects are very minor. If you want to save money on every fill-up, skip the more expensive grades of gas.
Use a gas discount card – This is a major item. Many of the major filling station chains offer discount cards so by all means consider one. These cards can save you up to 5% every fill-up. Add that savings up per year and you’ll find it’s a considerable sum of money. Read More: AutosVoice.com

There are thousands of terrible road traffic collisions in the US every single year. A small percentage of them result in fatalities, but most require the motorists to visit the hospital. With that in mind, we wanted to research the subject and offer some accurate information about the primary causes. Hopefully, this article will help you to avoid injury in the future by highlighting which actions are most likely to result in a crash. Take some time to read through these points, and then try to work out how you can stop them from harming your family. At the end of the day, many accidents involve another party, and the last thing anyone wants is a manslaughter case on their hands.

Bad Weather Conditions

Our research shows that adverse weather conditions are one of the most common causes of road accidents today. Rain, snow, ice and sleet can all make the roads more dangerous. People who fail to plan ahead and check the weather forecasts are the ones most likely to experience issues. If you have to travel somewhere when the weather is less than perfect, you should always take precautions. For instance, you can purchase chains for your tires that make it much easier to control your vehicle in the snow. 3 Used Cars That Won’t Let You Down

When in need of a new vehicle, most of us would prefer to have one fresh out of the factory, with all the benefits that come with it. However, not all of us are that lucky! If you know you’re going to be looking at the used market, it’s not the end of the world! Here are three cars which retain their reliability, and will give you years of trouble-free use.

Kia Cee’d Hatchback

The Kia Cee’d is quite a rarity among hatchbacks. If you drove a new one, and then one which has been owned for a year, it would be pretty hard to tell them apart! It’s also fairly unique because of its massive depreciation rate. However, seen as you’re buying it used, this shouldn’t be a problem! Look around carefully for one at the right age. If you find one which is at least three years old, then you’ll probably end up paying a mere third of the factory price. The EcoDynamics petrol model is a particular steal. Some of these went for £22,000 when they were first released. Now, you can pick one up for as little as £7,000! If you’re going for the maximum possible value, then look no further! The Best Ways to Finance Your Next Car Purchase

If you’re about to buy a new car, you might be thinking about the financial implications of that. Here are the best ways to finance that purchase.

Part-Exchange

Most people who are buying a new car have an old one that they want to get rid of. This is useful because it makes the purchase of your new car that little bit cheaper. Unfortunately, this is obviously not something that will help people who have only just got their driving license. Part-exchange deals are something that most car dealerships offer to customers. They take your old car off your hands for you. And, in return, the new car you buy will be a little bit cheaper as a result. The other good thing about this is that you don’t have to worry about the hassle of selling the car privately. Read More: AutosVoice.com

Interesting Facts About Car Accidents

First of all, bigger vehicles aren’t necessarily safer. A lot of people hold the misconception that bulky vehicles like SUVs will do better to protect you than a hatchback, no matter the situation. Okay, most SUVs you’ll see will do better than most hatchbacks on the road today. However, there are various exceptions to the rule. Many old SUVs were made with a higher centre of gravity than more modern ones. This puts them at more risk of rolling. This is immediately more dangerous than a car accident which doesn’t involve a car flipping. Engineers fortunately caught onto this fault, and took steps against it. Most modern SUVs will come with electronic stability control, which prevents any rolling over. Be sure to ask about this buying your next SUV! Read More: AutosVoice.com
